Brought to you by the renowned whisky bar BAR Silent Third in Japan, the Nordic Mythology Series unveils its latest masterpiece after an eight-month hiatus: Hraesvelgr. In Norse mythology, Hraesvelgr is the mighty giant eagle, perched at the edge of the world, whose wingbeats summon the winds and symbolize the boundless forces of nature and change.

For this exceptional bottling, renowned artist Takumi combines American black-and-white line art with delicate Japanese ukiyo-e influences, vividly bringing Hraesvelgr to life. The soaring king of the skies crosses between clouds and winds, blurring the lines of myth and art.

Inspired by the eagle’s peak symbolism, curator Mr. Hashimoto chose whisky from Ben Nevis, a distillery at Scotland's highest mountain, to represent the pinnacle of creation. Distilled in 2015, this whisky spent 6 years in bourbon casks followed by 4 years in a sherry butt, creating a complex and layered profile. It retains the refined floral notes and honeyed malt of its youth, while the sherry cask adds depth with candied fruit and dried fig richness. Like the Norse winds, it transports drinkers on an extraordinary journey.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Malt, fig, passion fruit, bergamot, mandarin, kumquat, incense, animal leather, salted butter, and a hint of savory salinity.
Palate: Malt, honey, kumquat, bergamot, clove, cocoa, and an umami-rich sherry saltiness; bold and structured.
Finish: Dried fruits, malt, clove, cocoa, minerality, and earthy aromas.
