The "Sutherland - Red Wax Cat", crafted by Thompson Bros., masterfully blends malt whiskies from Clynelish, Dornoch, and the legendary Brora Distillery. Since its debut in 2022, this series has captured the distinctive essence of the Sutherland region in the Scottish Highlands, celebrated for its waxy texture and refined character.

Initially intended as a 5-year-old whisky, unexpected production delays pushed its bottling to 2025, making this whisky over 6 years old. This additional time in cask has allowed the spirit to develop deeper complexity and a more mature profile, surprising whisky enthusiasts with its enhanced layers of flavor.

Designed to embody the "Old Highland Style", the whisky highlights a signature waxy texture and silky mouthfeel, intertwined with the elegance of fresh white fruits and subtle melon notes. Its profile offers an alluring glimpse into the beloved Highland tradition, making it a rare and timeless gem for connoisseurs.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Bright fruits, waxy aromas, almond, salted butter, honeydew syrup, canned pineapple, crushed malt, IPA and ale yeast notes, green apple, mango, camphor, and freshly pressed olive oil.
Palate: Sweet and refreshing with honeydew, pineapple juice, lemon peel, grapefruit zest, citrus, white grapes, and Clynelish’s signature white fruit waxiness, complemented by a smooth, oily texture.
Finish: Long-lasting waxy finish with hints of freshly baked sourdough bread drizzled with olive oil, balanced by a delicate lemon peel freshness.
